As most of you know, the Chapter recolonized in Fall of 2021 and will open its new house this Fall of 2023.
Sigma Rho has seen dramatic changes over the past two decades – including two shutdowns and two subsequent recolonizations. These impactful events have led to ever evolving difficulties related to the identity and character of the organization. Also contributing to these circumstances have been monumental shifts to the Greek system all across the country – including far stricter rules and enforcement related to pledgeship, rush, and living accommodations.
Much time, effort and money has gone into the resurrection of the house by many Sigma Rho alumni as well as the General Fraternity. On the cusp of opening the new house, many questions have come up that we’ve never really asked ourselves as alumni, such as:
What kind of organization do we want the Sigma Rho Alumni Association to be?
Engagement has historically been touch-and-go. Do we want more for this organization and from each other?
If dollars were raised, where might we allocate those resources?
To that end, we want to take this opportunity to get a fix on what Sigma Rho alumni actually want to get out of an alumni association and what the relationship with current undergraduates might look like. A short (4 minute) survey is placed below that will be followed up by a series of focus groups in the Chicago area as well as in Urbana-Champaign that will help us all get a better understanding on what the future of Sigma Rho may look like. Individual names will not be used in compiling results. This survey will be active for four weeks. A reminder will be sent just before that time.
The intention is to determine collective interest in making the connection among all of us more thriving. We really want to hear from as many of you as possible. Please take a moment to fill out the survey.
